Use of Narcotics substances /Drugs posed a major threat to the present society. The young generation is about to lose its youthfulness. It's very alarming that the use of Narcotics is on rise in Jammu and Kashmir.
During the recent elections held in Punjab, some political parties vowed to eliminate drugs culture in Punjab mentioned in theirs Election Manifesto clearly reflects the use of Narcotics and it's impacts in the society. Domestic violence and many other crimes in the society are products of Drugs, directly or indirectly.
It's a big social crime. Police has been trying it's best to eliminate this crime but undue influence by some vested interests ruined the system. In the recent past, gang of smugglers also tried to manhandled some Policemen who were producing challan in the Hon'ble Court of Law against the smugglers arrested by them in whose possession some Narcotics were recovered during the normal search.
Narcotics smugglers are very smart. They are doing trade which is small in quantity and Hon'ble Judge 'll bail out them when an Advocate ll plead his case.
Advocates 'll plead the case in such a way that it has nothing to do with them. But one thing they should not forget, if today, son of his client is involved , tomorrow it ll be yours & then we ll ask you , should we get him bailed out or sent to Jail for corrective measures ? Should we help the Police/cooperate the Police or should we see the lacuna in investigation for getting them bailed out ? Should we influence or threaten the Policemen for dire consequences or appreciate the good work done by them ?
It's a crime which is killing the whole society. Many women were divorced or burnt down under the influence of intoxication by consumers. Young daughters were raped under the influence of Narcotics. School going children were kidnapped ,sexually assaulted and killed under the influence of intoxication by these criminals. In Kashmir, militants are getting their share from the drug peddlers/smugglers. Many stone pelters were arrested by the Police while pelting on the SFs under the influence of drugs.
Hon'ble Judges should also think about it. Before ordering a bail in drug related cases, they should think twice , thrice and so on, that they too belongs to this society. Their own children could be victim of this menace in the future if Punishment shall not be awarded and these goons were given free hand to carry on their business after theirs release. Let the Police do its job. Narcotics smugglers got arrested after doing a lot of hardwork. People lost faith on the whole process when released / bailed out. Though many people don't know that it's not Police on whose order a smuggler is bailed out. Police has no role in it. People used to blame Police. It's not Police but another institution is there whose is ordering bail.
In many of the cases related to drug smuggling, Police in its report has written and appealed to the Hon'ble Judges that this smuggler may not be released keeping in view the negative impact of his/her release on the whole society. His release may encourage other smugglers to continue this illegal trade and as a result, it ll ruin the whole society but an Advocate whose profession is to get his client to be released by this way or that way pleaded the case and get the smuggler released/bailed out without application of rationality or without thinking about the negative effects / bad consequences of release of a drug smuggler.
Let's pledge together i.e. Judiciary , Police and Public , and save our society. Let's make it a Drug Free Society.
