In it’s endeavor to bring world to India, particularly to Jammu, Indian Council for Cultural Relations, (ICCR) Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India is bringing a group from Russia to Jammu for its performance on 9th of October, 2017 and the performance is being held at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu at 6 pm in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art Culture and languages. Giving details, Regional Director of ICCR J&K Balwant Thakur while briefing the media at ICCR headquarters informed here today that this will be the 11th world country to perform in Jammu after the inception of ICCR in Jammu. Earlier groups from Zambia, Republic of Laos, Poland, Malaysia, Spain ,Bangladesh, Belgium, Sri Lanka, Germany and Mauritius have successfully given their successful performances in Jammu. Prior to the establishment of ICCR in Jammu, the people out here never had the opportunity to witness International performances. In the recent months ICCR has been very active in the International Cultural Exchange programmes and only last month sponsored two Cultural groups from J&K for their performances in Japan and Egypt. This month one International Exhibition of Handicrafts is being participated by J&K in New Zealand.

Giving details about the International performance of Russia Balwant Thakur informed that a Siberian group of artists ‘ZVINNITSA (Belfy)’’ is coming all way from Russia to present the folk music and dances of Siberia (Russia) in Jammu. Their programmes are based on folklore material that was collected during the expeditions in the Omsk region by the Group Director - Efim Arkin. The Group's repertoire includes the Russian rites, the songs and dances of Siberia.
"ZVONNITSA (Belfry)" is the laureate of many national competitions. The team participated in festivals abroad: in Czechoslovakia (1989), Ukraine (Kiev, 1990), Bulgaria (Pernik, 1993), France (Gunn, the World Cultures, 1996), Italy (Trento, Dialogues of Cultures, 2013), the 3rd Festival of the Russian Culture in Trencianske Teplice, Slovakia (2015), performances on the Days of Slavic writing and culture in the cities of Ruma, Belgrade, (Serbia-2016).
"ZVONNITSA (Belfry)" has been twice awarded the Prizes of the Omsk Region Governor.
Regional Director ICCR Balwant Thakur futher thanked J&K Academy of Art Culture and languages for joining hands with Indian Council for Cultural Relations in holding this International event in Jammu in the larger interest of the development of the performing arts of the region.
