Gandhi Nagar Constituency Advocacy Workshop on “Water & Sanitation & Hygiene ”held on 29th March 2018 at Jal Bhawan Jammu.
Gandhi Nagar Constituency Advocacy workshop was organized by PHE Urban Circle Jammu to sensitize the allied departments regarding Water, Sanitation & Hygiene under the guidelines of National Rural Drinking Water & Sanitation Programme (NRDWP) at Jal Bhawan Jammu. The aim of conducting this workshop is to create awareness among masses and sensitization of the allied departments for the conservation of water and preservation of water bodies.
Sh. Kavinder Gupta, Hon’ble speaker J&K Govt and MLA Gandhi Nagar Constituency Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion.
A Mela was also organized for General Public for performing various water tests in water testing laboratory at Jal Bhawan jammu.
Sh. Kavinder Gupta Hon’ble speaker J&K Government during his address note stressed over the organization of such workshops in Urban and Rural areas for awareness among the masses. He further highlighted the need for conservation of water as well as the economic usage of drinking water and stressed that gross root level awareness is required and we must make a every drop count. If actions for its conservations are not taken today, it will spill disaster for all living beings in the near future .He further stressed that the gross root level workers of PHE Department should identify and plug the Leakages instantly and appealed to General Public to save water judicially and to install float valves in their Storage tanks to avoid wastage of water & pay Water Charges bills on time.

P.K Nanda Former Honorary secretary IEI Jammu Local Centre,Sh Rajeev khajuria, Founder Emeritus NDF Jammu, Dr Shahid hussain from Health Department, Er Gopal Sharma from CCDU Deptt, Er Rakesh Gupta Central Water Commission Jammu. SKITS were also presented by Artists of Swarangan Institute of arts and Samooh theatre on saving and judicious use of water under the directions of sh Om Buria and Dr Sudhir Mahajan.
Superintending Engineer PHE Mech. Urban Circle Jammu Er. Ajay Singh Wazir during his Address Note welcomed all the dignitaries on the occasion and while speaking on the occasion he also stressed for water conservation, Rain water harvesting and on the overall quality of drinking water. it was stressed that the vision of NRDWP cannot be achieved fully without the coordination of all the allied departments such as Health, Forest, Agriculture, Education, Rural Sanitation, Social welfare etc and local communities. The new innovative strategies are to be devised so as to percolate the message water, sanitation and Hygiene to the General Public.
The programme was interactive in nature and generated interest, enthusiasm and healthy discussion between officers and participants. This will help in upgrading the knowledge and the attitude of participants which finally will result in efficient and effective performance of the human resource of their respective organizations.
